This Vegan Superfood Hot Chocolate is full of rich antioxidants, essential vitamins and minerals. Raw Cacao is one of the best sources of magnesium with lots of zinc, iron and potassium. It's been known to help lower insulin resistance, lower blood pressure and boost your mood. Unlike regular cocoa, it's cold pressed, which keeps the living enzymes in tact and removes the fat. Your typical cocoa is roasted at high temperatures, which drastically lowers the overall nutritional value.
This comforting bevy also has Maca, a root that has been grown for over 2500 years in the Peruvian Andes. It's actually the highest altitude crop on earth. Vegan Superfood Hot Chocolate
1 cup of Well Nut Mylk (or your favourite Non-Dairy Milk)
1 tbsp raw cacao powder
1 tbsp vegan chocolate chips
1 tsp maca powder
1 tsp maple syrup or sweetener or choice
- Optional: Peppermint Extract - to really get in the spirit :)
Warm your mylk over medium heat in a small saucepan. Once warm, add cacao powder and chocolate chips. Stir constantly until well combined and chocolate has melted. Then stir in maple syrup, maca & peppermint (if using). Pour into a mug and enjoy!
